Railgrup: A promising partnership with the top stakeholders in the railway industry
Barcelona, March 2018
Railgrup is a consortium of more than 80 companies that has become a benchmark cluster in the railway sector by promoting its members’ global competitiveness and influence in terms of technological excellence, sectoral knowledge and project development. Worldsensing is now an official member together with other multi-national companies in the railway industry such as 3M, Indra and Siemens.
“We are excited to be part of the Railgrup cluster. We believe that there is a lot of opportunity for collaboration, business growth and learning with the other members.”, says Ignasi Vilajosana, CEO and co-founder of Worldsensing.
“The Railgrup team is a prestigious group of railway industry experts and we believe that Worldsensing is an important technology partner that can benefit from and help our other members.”, says Enric Tico, Railgrup president.
Worldsensing decided to be part of Railgrup to leverage the network of the top players in the railway industry for the following projects and products:
- “Bogies basado en Emisión Acústica” (BEA), a project co-funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness as part of the State Program of Research, that involves the study, design and development of a monitoring, diagnostic and structural forecasting system for bogies.
- Loadsensing, the Wireless Monitoring System of Worldsensing enables railway actors, system operations, maintenance and construction companies to gather difficult to access data that can be used in a variety of applications for the railway industry, such as the innovative maintenance predictive software.
Wireless Monitoring for the railway industry
The Loadsensing wireless nodes have been used to perform remote, real-time monitoring during the construction of key railway projects such as the Eppenburg Tunnel in Switzerland. The building of such infrastructure requires regular and reliable geotechnical monitoring to detect any incident that may affect the project execution and safety of the workers. Loadsensing not only eliminated the need for expensive cabling and manual monitoring but also provided long-range and low-power wireless nodes which reduced the need for the installation and maintenance of hardware.
About Railgrup
Railgrup is an assembly of key players in the railway industry. Railgrup members benefit from intersectoral technological and value chain cooperation, promotion of joint commercial activities, specialized training and technological workshops, internationalization programs and user-oriented collaboration between the member companies.
About Worldsensing
Worldsensing is a widely recognized global IoT pioneer. Founded in 2008, the Barcelona-based technology provider delivers Operational Intelligence to traditional industries and cities. With over 80 employees and offices in Barcelona, London and Los Angeles, Worldsensing is globally active and has customers in over 50 countries on 5 continents.
About BEA
The project contemplates the development and integration of technologies for the monitoring and interpretation of the acoustic emissions generated during the normal operation of bogies through sensors that perform the monitoring, diagnosis and structural forecasting formed by a local device and an asset management platform.
Aquest projecte ha estat cofinançat per la Unió Europea a través del Fons Europeu de Desenvolupament Regional (FEDER).
