Industrial IoT leader continues to grow commercial team with appointment of seasoned professional Yvan Bonnin to lead sales in Africa

Worldsensing, the global leader in industrial Internet-of-Things (IoT) technologies, has appointed Yvan Bonnin as area manager for Africa as part of moves to strengthen global sales.

Bonnin brings a wealth of commercial experience from across Africa, having built African partner and distribution networks from the ground up in previous roles.

His experience has been right across Africa positioning him well to contribute towards Worldsensing’s robust growth prospects up and down the continent.

“I’m looking forward to using my expertise in setting up partner sales networks to help strengthen Worldsensing’s commercial offering across Africa,” said Bonnin. “There is a tremendous opportunity for IoT technology applications right across the continent.”

Bonnin’s appointment is part of a wider drive to strengthen Worldsensing’s worldwide sales presence in response to rocketing demand for IoT systems to improve safety in areas ranging from construction to mining and rail services.

Worldsensing also recently appointed geotechnical expert Kelsey Kidd to lead North American sales.

“In Africa, we see a massive thirst for knowledge around the potential for IoT technologies in sectors such as mining,” said Matthieu Laville, Worldsensing’s global sales director. “We expect to see demand not only from obvious markets such as South Africa but also from many of the African nations.”

A major focus for Worldsensing’s African sales efforts will be Loadsensing, an industrial IoT platform widely used in construction, infrastructure operations and mining.

Loadsensing asset monitoring systems have already been installed in around 100 mines worldwide, including projects in Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Guinea, Mali, Namibia, South Africa and Zambia.

“Reaching customers in these markets is a challenge and requires the painstaking establishment of trustworthy partner networks,” said Steve Cahill, Worldsensing’s COO. “Yvan Bonnin already has an excellent track record in this kind of work, and we are looking forward to supporting him, in bringing our IoT technology and connectivity to support customers in improving safety and the monitoring of projects in the mining, construction and rail sectors across Africa.”
