To coincide with the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing, Hack Week 3.0 focused on ideas that will make an impact
Barcelona, August 2019
For the third time, Worldsensing organized Hack Week, a one week long event where the Engineering team supported by other departments works on innovative ideas outside of the official roadmap.
On a mission to make a difference
The ideas for the projects are collected from staff. This year resulted in a new Hack Week record with 48 ideas across all departments from Worldsensing’s 100 employees. “It is important to give space for new ideas and to continue innovating – this is the core of Worldsensing, and what our people love to do,” says Albert Zaragoza, Worldsensing Chief Technological Officer.
The technology of Worldsensing assists in creating a safer world and more livable cities, and Hack Week 3.0 provided an opportunity to explore this further. “At Worldsensing, we believe that we can make a difference, and the 11 projects we worked on during the week all contribute to this common goal of ours. Like the people behind the mission to the moon, we Worldsensers also want to leave our mark on the world,“ comments Albert Zaragoza.
From ideas to real solutions
Previous Hack Weeks have resulted in products and solutions that are now an official part of the Worldsensing portfolio. For example, the project “OneMind mobile dashboard” from Hack Week 2.0 was the seed for mobile applications for OneMind, Worldsensing’s intelligent IoT solutions builder. The City App allows city leaders to make decisions on the go with a real-time KPI app customized to their city, and the Citizen Engagement App brings real-time citizen feedback to the mobile phones of city authorities to help them improve city operations and services.
